Busy Game Day At GM Place
03/19/06

Pink sticks, Igor Larionov, and a couple of Irish lads made up today's busy day at General Motors Place. The Canucks had an optional skate this morning at 10:00 to prepare to play the Red Wings tonight. We spotted Keith Carney and Richard Park out skating with the team but the rest of the star players won't be seen by fans until tonight.

We snapped a photo of Mika Noronen who was practicing with an unusual pink stick this morning along with the rest of the team. There is a good reason for the pink sticks, however; they are part of the NHL campaign to spread awareness and raise money for breast cancer. Nolan Baumgartner and Jarkko Ruutu talk more about the pink sticks and the game vs. Detroit below.

After the Canucks skated, Chris Chelios and a few other Red Rings hit the ice, check out the photos from practice today!

Two Irish lads, Paul and Andrew who are the stars of Linda Conway's documentary, "When Hockey came To Belfast" showed up at GM Place, and chatted with the media today about the film. The documentary is a compelling story of the two boys and how the game of hockey helped to bridge the divided Catholic and Protestant communities in Ireland. The boys had the chance to meet the Canucks as well as Marc Crawford and will attend the game vs. the Red Wings tonight.

In light of tonight's game, the former Canuck and Red Wing, Igor Larionov stopped by Authentix to sign copies of his new dvd, "Farewell From Moscow" at around 1:00, Check out the photos of the fans eager to see Igor in person.
