Canuck Place Skate

On Saturday, February 25th, 2006 Canucks players treated over 200 Canuck Place children and families from around BC to a special skate at General Motors Place. The skate was an opportunity to provide a positive experience for the children and their families who face obstacles every day with their illnesses.

The kids were joined on the ice by Vancouver Canucks players Nolan Baumgartner, Wade Brookbank, Ryan Kesler, Steve McCarthy and Canucks mascot Fin. The children celebrated Olympic hockey, autographs and pictures with their heroes. Brookbank and Kesler even took some of the children on a friendly race pushing their wheelchairs down the ice for a ride of a lifetime.

The Canuck Place skate continues to be a great success for the children and families involved. For Canuck forward Kesler the interaction with the children and families was a treasured opportunity. "It was so much fun to hear the children laugh and to see them just being kids and being in the moment. To see their siblings and parents just enjoy their smiles was really rewarding."
