UBC Thunderbirds To Play A Two Game Series at GM Place
Vancouver - In a continued effort to support the growth and development of hockey in British Columbia, the Vancouver Canucks and General Motors Place are pleased to announce that the arena will be opening its doors for the University of British Columbia to play two games this weekend, concluding a four game series at General Motors Place. The Thunderbirds faced off against the Lethbridge Pronghorns on December 1 and 3 and will play versus the Regina Cougars on January 12 and 13. Net proceeds from ticket sales will support UBC athletics.
"The Vancouver Canucks are pleased to continue to build upon our strong relationship with UBC Athletics and UBC Alumni by having a four game series played at General Motors Place," said Senior Vice President and General Manager Dave Nonis. "We have a number of unique events surrounding the games for our fans that will allow us to celebrate the past, present and future of hockey."
General Motors Place will open its doors early as a family friendly venue to watch CBC's Hockey Day in Canada's coverage of the January 13th game of the Vancouver Canucks at the Toronto Maple Leafs at 4:00 pm on the Canucks new scoreboard; the UBC game begins at 7:00 pm.
Single game tickets will be available at a price of $12 per seat through Ticketmaster Charge-By-Phone at 604.280.4400 or ticketmaster.ca. Groups of 10 or more may purchase a package for $5.00 per seat by calling 604.899.GOAL (4625).
