Goals and Dreams
On Monday November, 14, 2005 Vancouver Canuck Markus Naslund teamed up with Vancouver Canuck Alumni Kirk McLean, National Hockey League Players Association's Devon Smith and Kidsport in support of the Program at Brittania ice rink in Vancouver.
Launched in 1999 as a way for the players to give something back to the game they love, Goals & Dreams has donated full sets of equipment to over 7,000 underprivileged children in 17 countries. In addition, over 75 ice re-surfaces and more than 110 sets of boards and glass were provided to community arenas in small towns in Europe and North America.
On Monday, Naslund and others provided 75 sets of gear to 15 community kids sports chapters in the lower mainland.
To date, the program has donated more than $15-million to grassroots hockey programs around the world making it the largest program of its kind!
