BLUE vs. SILVER GAME
09/18/05

14,716. That's how many people turned up for the Canucks Annual Blue vs. Silver game at General Motors Place on Sunday. The players got themselves ready for the action in their own ways. Some listened to music, some focussed on themselves and Rob McVicar, the goaltender, juggled hackysacks to get his hand-eye coordination going.

The Blue vs. Silver game was preceeded by an Alumni game. In that contest, Team Silver was down 3-2 late in the game, but coach Norm Jewison pulled the goaltender for an extra attacker and it paid off as Gary Valk scored the equalizer late in the game. They were supposed to have a shootout, but in true Alumni fashion, they were too tired.
Trevor Linden had a good game with two goals for Team Blue, while Fedor Fedorov had a goal and two assists. For Team White, Brandon Nolan had a good game and was singled out by head coach Marc Crawford for his efforts. The game was followed by a shootout, as will all pre-season games, which was won by Team Silver to eek out a small measure of revenge.
