Taking Time Out for Books
Taking some time off from a grueling training camp, Daniel Sedin along with Team Mascot Fin visited Whistler's Myrtle Philip Elementary School to read to the Grade 1 class as part of the Vancouver Canucks education outreach initiatives.
Daniel read "Z in for Zamboni" to the first graders and rather than questioning Daniel about his teammates and the upcoming season these children were more interested in Fin. "If he's real, why doesn't be blink? Why doesn't his mouth close?" Sedin, a new father himself, did not mind being overshadowed by Fin and answered all the children's questions. In the midst of all the excitement, Fin spotted one of the children wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs Jersey. At the sight of the Leaf's emblem Fin's blowhole released clouds of steam which resulted in the kids erupting in laughter.
The experience scored big in the hearts of the first graders.
