The Canucks worked on passing and power plays this morning at General Motors place in preparation to play their first game of the season against the Buffalo Sabres. Buffalo is currently 2nd on both the power play and the penalty kill so special teams are crucial tonight for the Canucks.

Following the Canucks practice, the Sabres hit the ice to work on shots at net. A few players were missing from the team including Co-Captain, Daniel Briere who is out with an abdominal injury. Along with Ed, Matt Cooke will be off the Canuck lineup tonight due to twisting his ankle at the end of yesterday's practice. The good news is that Marc Crawford figures it should only be a week until Cooke's back on the ice. Alex Auld will be starting tonight for the Canucks; game time is 7:00 pm on Sportsnet Pacific.
