Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice President and General Manager Dave Nonis announced today that defenceman Kevin Bieksa has been recalled from the Manitoba Moose of the AHL.

Bieksa, 26, completed a one game conditioning assignment with the Manitoba Moose, recording one assist, plus one and two penalty minutes, and will now rejoin the Canucks in Nashville. He missed a total of 46 NHL games, from November 3, 2007 to February 19, 2008, due to a leg injury. In 2007-08, the 6’0”, 205-pound defenceman has recorded four points (1-3-4) and 23 penalty minutes in 12 games played with the Canucks.

In 132 NHL games, the Grimsby, Ontario native has registered 52 points (13-39-52) and 234 penalty minutes over the span of three seasons with the Vancouver Canucks. He previously played three seasons with the Manitoba Moose, tallying 15 goals, 46 assists and 267 penalty minutes in 107 games.

Bieksa was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the fifth round, 151st overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
