The Coolest Summer School Around
If you were listing the best things to do in the summertime, heading to school for a week probably comes right between cleaning out that nest of furious wasps in your attic and driving across Canada jammed into a car with a team of Sumo wrestlers.
However, most schools don’t include over two hours of hockey practice a day, hanging out with our mascot, FIN, AND some on-ice instruction from of our Vancouver Canucks, either Henrik Sedin, Jason Garrison or Chris Higgins will drop by during the camp!
The Canucks Hockey School, which is partnered with the world-renowned Okanagan Hockey School, offers that and more, making it an awesome way to spend your summer.
There are three, one-week hockey camps available to all hockey players of all skill levels between the ages 5-14 at the Surrey Sport and Leisure Centre from August 4-23. Players will be taught the fundamentals skills of hockey with instruction both on and off the ice, focusing on our three main priorities: having fun, playing safe and making friends.
Whether you are a newbie looking to find your stride, a more serious Rep player hoping to gain that extra edge ahead of tryouts or a goalie who’s working on her poke-check, the Canucks Hockey School has specialized programs for you.
Programs consist of:
Learn to Play - For players born between 2005-2007, this camp is about learning the game and having fun. All that’s required is skating ability, hockey gear and most importantly, a desire to have fun!
Regular Skaters Program- For players born between 2000-2005, this is a great development camp for players who have played organized hockey and want to improve their fundamentals.
Elite Skaters Program – This camp is designed for Rep level players born between 1998-2001 who are serious about taking their game up to the next level.
Goaltender Program – For puck-stoppers who want the building blocks of successful modern day goalies. Okanagan Hockey School’s head Goaltending Coach, Tyler Love, runs this camp with an hour of specific goalie training each day.
Defenseman Camp – Specifically for players born between 2000-2001, this program will teach proper positioning, stick-checking, shot-blocking and checking techniques. A great camp for blue-liners and forwards.LEARN MORE

A typical day starts with players being dropped off in the morning for on-ice practice. Next up is lunch and off-ice exercises, nutrition and instruction classes. Then it’s back on the ice for some more individual skill training and game situation practice.
