Canucks First Strides

Ebbett and Pinizzotto take strides alongside BC minor hockey players

Presented by Chevrolet, Rogers Arena was host to another successful Canucks First Strides event on March 15, 2013. After receiving hundreds of applications province-wide, over 70 initiation- and novice-level players (aged six to eight), as well as coaches, were randomly selected to participate.

The First Strides program offers BC minor hockey players and coaches the opportunity to skate at Rogers Arena while receiving instruction from qualified BC Hockey course conductors. With an emphasis on fair play and having fun, the program aims to instill the fundamental values and characteristics necessary for success both on and off the ice.

In addition to valuable instruction from our conductors, this year’s First Strides participants were treated by a special appearance from Andrew Ebbett, Steve Pinizzotto and Fin. After joining the young players on the ice for drills and games, the Canucks trio was happy to sign cards for all of our First Striders – a well-deserved souvenir that sent the young players happy and inspired after all their hard work throughout the day.

As always, the Canucks Centre for BC Hockey would like to thank Chevrolet, the Rogers Arena and BC Hockey staff, as well as the Lady Sharks hockey team, who helped our players with their equipment. The collective effort from everyone involved to help our participants make their First Strides is much appreciated!
