Right place, right time.
Jordan Schroeder played Johnny on the Spot poking a loose puck into the Phoenix net midway through the third period, his third career goal counted as his second game-winner as the Vancouver Canucks tamed the Coyotes 2-1 Thursday night at the Jobing.com Arena in Phoenix.
A night of unlikely scoring heroes began with Chris Tanev putting his second career goal past Mike Smith 6:32 into the first period. The score remained 1-0 Canucks through 20 minutes.
A scoreless second period led to a tense third frame, one that opened with a Coyotes power play goal 2:26 in. It was anyone's game at that point with the teams playing end-to-end hockey; get the puck on net and good things happen they say and that's just what Jannik Hansen did. He started a scramble in the Phoenix crease that ended by Schroeder giving the Canucks the lead and their second straight win.
The Canucks are in Los Angeles Saturday for a matinee affair with the Kings.
