Fifty years ago on January 31st, 1963, a baby was born.
That baby may or may not have been holding a camera.
Today is Jeff Vinnick's 50th birthday and to celebrate the Vancouver Canucks media relations team surprised him with a custom team-signed jersey; "thank you so so much," is what he probably said when they presented it to him. I was running late and missed it.
In attempting to write a little something, something about Vinnick, the brilliance behind Behind the Lens, I realized I've missed a lot. Sure I travel with Jeff and have even been to his house for a BBQ, but I don't really know much about him other than that he wears a black spider toque, enjoys a banana with his morning oatmeal and rocks mafia bling like few people I know.
My birthday gift to you Jeff, and this will be a gift for fans of his everywhere, is to find out a little bit more about ol' Jeffy on the road this year.
He's made a living capturing the lives of others, it's time to get a snapshot of the man behind the camera.
