Bullish Kassian paces Canucks
Zack Kassian scored the shootout game-winner and also scored in regulation for the second consecutive game, as the Vancouver Canucks earned their first win of the season, a 3-2 victory over the Calgary Flames Wednesday night at Rogers Arena.
Kassian, playing alongside Daniel and Henrik Sedin, opened the scoring 6:20 into the second period and Mason Raymond made it 2-0 on the power play two minutes later. A pair of quick Flames goals to end the period had the game even at 2-2 and seemingly destined for overtime.
Cory Schneider is the main reason this game went on as long as it did. In his second start of the season, Schneider made 34 saves, including a WHAT THE WHAT stop in the third period and a OMG WHAT THE WHAT save in overtime.
Kassian and Burrows scored in the shootout, Tanguay was the only shooter to beat Schneider.
